Peugeot Car production in Slovakia


French car maker PSA Peugeot Citroen, said it would invest 130 million euros, equivalent to USD 187 million to start a new production at the plant located in Slovakia.

"Production of new cars will be launched in 2012 and will become the latest peugeot model, where we will invest at USD187 million," said Philippe Varin CEO of PSA as quoted by AFP.

He explained that this investment is likely to add new jobs to 900 workers at the factory that Slovakia. Where is the factory has employed as many as 3000 people who operate in two shifts.

"The factory has employed as many as 3000 people. In addition, in the year 2012 is targeted to reach capacity of 300 thousand units," he explained.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister of Slovakia, Iveta Radicova stated that this is a good thing amid the global crisis that is currently happening in some areas.

"Investment and the additional manpower and new is good news for Slovakia, amid the global crisis dragged on," he said.

For information, factory that produce vehicles for the markets Germany, France, and Italy has been through the decline in production. Trnava plant in western Slovakia, for example, has decreased to 187 thousand units compared with 2009 last year, amounting to 205 thousand units.
